Young Women Leading the Way – Inspiring Journeys Seminar

What began as an A-level Travel and Tourism assignment at Villa International High School

grew into a real industry event when six determined students set out to organise a seminar that would highlight the role of women in the Maldives’ tourism sector and give students the opportunity to hear directly from professionals working in the field.

Within a month, the group had planned the seminar, secured sponsorship, and invited speakers. With support from the Atmosphere Foundation and mentorship from Atmosphere Core professionals, the students hosted “Inspiring Journeys: Women Making a Difference in Tourism” in Malé.

The seminar brought together 55 participants, including 25 VIHS students, who heard from panelists representing organisations such as MATATO, the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, Kurumba Maldives, and One&Only Reethi Rah. For the organisers, the experience offered valuable insight into both event planning and the many career paths within the tourism industry.
